Came across these old photos and thought somebody might get a kick out of seing them;
The group photo was taken around the mid 1960's in front of the 8333 Lincoln Ave station. (For your information- they are from left to right--Mort Podolsky, Jack (tomato nose) Gish, K.B. (boss) Chamberlain, Capt. Ed (our main man) Caulfield, and Marty (the rabbit) Miller. Not in this photo, but a great part of the S.P.D Youth Division is Ken Cody.
During the late 60's, the night shift of the Det. Bureau were known to "brown bag it" at supper time---pictured is just a sample of how spoiled we were!
Best regards to all
Mort Podolsky
Can You Name These Hard Working Former Yoot Officers?
(Hint: the juvenile cime rate went down after she left, every 15-17 yr. old male stopped turning himself in for punishment: and a few officers, too!)

An Interesting old News Clip circa 1970
Bruce Rappe made good arrests like this all the time. An interesting case.  One of the detectives asked the suspect if he pimped the women "on the side".  His response was "Are you kidding? I have enough trouble getting men for me!"
The frame below is the opposite side of this clipping.
How do you like these prices?  Are we old or what!

HI, I WAS LOOKING AT THE SKOKIE RETIREE WEB SIGHT AND SAW THE PICTURE OF 19 OFFICERS FROM THE SKOKIE P.D, THE NAMES ARE IF YOU WANT THEM, I BELIEVE I KNOW THEM ALL AS I AM IN THE PICTURE.
 I HAVE ONE OF THESE PICTURES. YOU CAN'T SEE THE FACES ON SEVERAL, BUT I KNOW WHO THEY ARE. I LOOK AT THIS PICTURE AND I CAN ONLY SAY, THERE ARE ONLY A FEW THAT ARE STILL AMONG US.
Don Satiro

Ed. Comment:
Growing up in Morton Grove, young drivers such as myself knew not to get out of line when we crossed the Lincoln Ave., bridge and entered the "big" city of Skokie, becaused lying in wait, you could be sure that "mean" motorcycle  cop known as "The Flyin' Hawaiian" would be there.  Sgt. Don Satiro hated that knickname, and the only reason I use it now, is because he's 1/2 a continent away.  Roger Milz knew how to get under Don's skin and would often refer to him by that name.  At any rate, Don loved to write tickets to those rich kids, driving Daddy's car, so I learned very early to drive my hand-me-down 1950 Buick Special, very carefully en-route to Niles East.  I avoided any problems with Don, until I joined S.P.D. and then he got even.  Our thanks to Don for his input.
